Asian Wedding Outfits
Asian Weddings are most expensive events - not just for the bride but also for the other women attending. The dress of the bride will be the main talk of the town, the design of the outfit, the colour, the duppata work, the cost of the suit or sari, the place of purchase of the outfit, the colour combination... Almost every corner of the sari is closely looked at by the other ladies attending.
One problem in Asian weddings it that it is sometimes difficult to identify the bride, as most of the girls or ladies will be wearing similarly expensive items. The cost of a wedding is huge partly because ladies will never wear the same outfit to two different weddings. This results in yet another dress in the wardrobe that can't be worn again.
Every year an average of five to ten weddings take place in and around the family. It means the dress has to be unique for each and every wedding.
It is not an issue for men. One black suit, white shirt and black tie and shoes is fine for them all. The only thing the men have to change is their underwear. So it is easy for boys, but not so easy for young girls. Girls want something nice and new and expensive, like their mum's outfit, or that of their older sister.
The groom will use or wear the same suit again in another wedding, but the bride can only use it for one event - her wedding. After that it will go in storage for a long time.
The average cost for a family of four - two adults and two children - will be at least £450. And the cost of a bridal dress could be up to £3000. Many shops in the UK sell Asian bridal outfits. The best time to buy is November - particularly if your event is in June. Collection of the dress will be a week before the wedding.
Many brides choose to go back home to countries such as India, Pakistan or Bangladesh as bridal dresses are normally imported from there, and there is normally more variety. Variety is important since the bride will be buying as many as three different outfits for events such as mehdi and sangeet, as well as the wedding reception.
The price can go down to as little as 50% cheaper than the UK, and if you are buying three or more, it may well be worth a trip to a retail outlet in Mumbai such as Sessions, Com Sheetal or Com Millionaire.
