Booking A Children’s Magician For Your Wedding

It’s your big day, you think you’ve planned everything, but have you thought about your younger guests? If there are going to be several children and young people at your wedding you might wish to consider hiring a magician to help them enjoy the day, and dare I suggest it to keep them out of trouble!

Many of your guests will like to have their children with them, and you may even have children yourself. Weddings are a family occasion so it seems sensible to include children in the celebrations, but let’s be honest, weddings are a long day. Even those of us who have experienced a wedding before may find ourselves tiring as the day draws on. A professional entertainer can help to keep everyone’s energies up.

A children’s entertainer can be booked to perform a small show to children, usually while the speeches are taking place. There doesn’t need to be a huge number of children and young people present for this to be cost effective, and I have previously been booked for a show of just ten young people. This works fine. A good children’s entertainer should have experience of working for mixed age groups, so even if you have children who are very young and those who are nearly teenagers, they should be able to put on a show that each can be involved in and enjoy.

Some children’s entertainers, like myself, are also accomplished close up magicians, so you may consider having them show some walkaround close up magic to to the adults afterwards, which can include some extra magic for the children at the same time. This can continue on into the evening, with the magician again, helping to keep the children occupied during the evening entertainment.

In many ways it does depend on how formal or informal your wedding is. I have performed at very formal weddings, and I have enjoyed them, but as I said weddings are family occasions, so I much prefer when people let their hair down and take life a little less seriously. I have been booked previously at weddings to perform magic for both adults and children, make balloon sculptures, and even run some family team games.

Including the children and young people in your wedding helps them feel valued and important, and helps you to enjoy your day with the people love. A professional entertainer is there to take the stress away from you, so that you can concentrate on spending time with you family and friends.
