Choosing The Perfect Wedding Rings

The exchange of the wedding ring symbolises your everlasting love, promise and commitment to one another. The tradition of wearing the wedding ring on the third finger of the left hand is believed to be that the vena amoris or ‘vein of love’ runs from this finger directly to the heart. It also is a symbol of your love and commitment to one another.
It’s important to think carefully when choosing your wedding rings. Brides (and Grooms) put so much care and attention into organising the perfect day and choosing the perfect dress, venue etc, be sure enough time is allocated to choose the rings carefully. Whilst the day may be the greatest day of your life and one that you will never forget, your rings are a reminder of that and worn every day for the rest of your life!
When choosing rings they should reflect you the individual who is wearing them.
When worn alongside an engagement ring, the wedding ring should compliment and not overwhelm. Take into account the engagement ring design and the metal, think also about the shape and size of the finger it’s worn on. It’s also worth considering the lifestyle you lead and the basic practicality.

Despite the current popularity of platinum, gold remains the number one choice for couples getting married. Gold most commonly comes in yellow and white, but there’s also pink (or rose) gold and even green! The look of each metal can be transformed by having brushed finish instead of a highly polished one, or even a combination of both. Most recent addition palladium has now been recognised by the Assay Office of Great Britain as a precious metal, which has the look of platinum but less expensive. Again, take into account the look you are after, hardwearing qualities and of course your budget.

If you can’t find what you are looking for on the high street, consider having your rings specially made. Have a consultation with a jewellery designer. Most offer a free design consultation service and can help you create a truly unique piece. It may not be as expensive as you may think. Have a matching set designed and made, add some colour to a plain band with a subtle flash of yellow or pink gold or a sprinkling of diamonds? Diamonds not only come in traditional white, but many other colours including pink, yellow, green blue and even black!
Why not think outside the box? Use your loved one’s birthstone, or have their initial subtly incorporated, have your own unique pet names or private joke engraved on the inside!
Be open minded when choosing your wedding rings. Stamp your own unique personality into your jewellery. It’s important to have your rings reflect you and your personality, so why not think outside the box? There’s nothing wrong with tradition as this will never date, but think about you as a couple, are you traditionalists, is your wedding day traditional? Stamp your own personality onto your lifetime piece of jewellery the options are endless...
