How To Deliver Perfect Wedding Speech

It is always exciting to be asked to be the Maid of Honor or the Best Man. But many of us have the same issue, the speech!

I have been in the situation of trying to think up the right words. What do you say? You don’t want to make a fool out of yourself right?

How can you give a perfect wedding speech?

I am happy to say that I have found some tips on how to deliver a proper speech that everyone will love!
First thing first stop and think about the bride and the groom. What personalities do they have? You want to make sure the speech matches their personality. If their personalities are calm and shy you probably do not want to deliver a rock star style speech.

While writing speeches I have found the “sandwich technique.” to be the best. Using the Sandwich Technique you will start the speech simple and respectful. The first words out of your mouth set the tone for the rest of your speech. I am sure you do not want to put your foot in your mouth right off the bat! The wrong words could quickly turn people away from listening to you and will probably offend the bride and groom which would not be a wise idea on their special day!

After your kind and simple words it would be nice to tell a little joke. Humor in the proper amount is always nice, and will keep your speech flowing and the audience interested. When telling a joke try to keep it personalized and about the bride and groom, but do not disclose more than they would want known. NEVER joke about embarrassing stories, past relationships, or family members. This will quickly offend people that you don’t want to offend.
The last part of the sandwich technique is to end the speech much like it began. Keep your words simple and respectful.

Now that you have your tips sit and write out an outline or rough draft. Read it over and see how it sounds and then put it down for a few hours and return to it. Does it still sound good? Is there anything you feel you should add or take away? Would you, yourself enjoy this speech if this was your wedding? Does it match the bride and groom?
When preparing your speech also keep the length in mind. Long speeches will bore anyone no matter the content. But, do not make it too short. You want the bride and groom to know you put time and effort into this speech and it meant a lot to you as Maid of Honor or Best Man. A proper speech length is around 5-10 minutes.

Once you feel that your speech is perfect practice it in the mirror. This may sound unusual but your facial expressions will be important in delivering your speech. During your joke you may want to make a funny face or have a more serine or loving face while beginning or ending your speech. Think about the parts in your speech where you want to look at the bride and groom or the parts that you will look at the audience. By practicing you might help in aiding the fear or nervousness you may feel on the day of the speech.
The last tip that I have for you is to read it to another. Your friends and family will have ideas to help enhance your speech. Listen to them if you agree and disregard if you don’t. But, receiving their advice might help make it that much better!

Please remember to enjoy yourself. Take a deep breath and realize that it will be just fine! With these simple easy to do tips you will be able to create a speech that everyone will love and enjoy!
