Top 5 Wedding Venues In Edinburgh

Of course wedding videographers have their favourite venues for a variety of reasons. Here’s ours. A top five – in no particular order – and a very personal list, so forgive me if 95% of worthy venues have been omitted. I’ve not produced wedding films in all the venues listing, but being born and bred in Edinburgh I know some of the city’s best kept wedding venues from churches (which I personally love to film in) to luxury hotels.

Mansfield Traquair – traditional with a twist
A stunning former church built in 1885 and now run by catering group Heritage Portfolio. A beautiful space with so many gorgeous interior details to film. If you’re looking for a church style venue that can be refined to fit a modern, but very beautiful look.

Prestonfield House – the opulent choice
Owned the Witchery Restaurant owner, James Thompson it sits under the majestic Arthur’s Seat. I love the circular stables in the garden and where else in Edinburgh are there roaming peacocks!

Corstorphine Old Parish Church – the wee hidden one
My local and hidden gem of the bunch. When I showed a highlights reel filmed in this small 14th century church I get so many people asking where it is. Not well publicised, but a true hidden gem. Since there is no website it may be of use to see our video of a wedding we filmed there. We like to think we did it justice.

Hopetoun House – the stately home
Yes, it’s just outside Edinburgh, but close enough and stunning enough to justify a place on the list. I last visited this venue for a vows renewal, and this stately home never fails to impress me. With an imposing location overlooking the Firth of Forth, the grounds is an excellent location for wedding photoshoots.

Royal Botanic Gardens – the wildcard
Not for everyone but some people just love doing things amidst the trees. I’m one of them, and the garden offers some beautiful photo and film opportunities. Just pray for the weather!
