First of all congratulations on your forthcoming wedding, there is lots to plan and do leading up to your big day and this breakdown will help to assist you along the way. Planning is very important for any wedding big or small as you will need to plan as much as possible to ensure you have a wedding as special as you deserve. The below countdown is relatively high-level but quite robust in terms of scheduling.
24 – 12 months
Decide on the type of ceremony you would like and make an appointment to see your minister, priest, registrar or rabbi to arrange the date of the wedding.

Now the date is set and ceremony agreed, make sure the venue of your choice is available on this date. Book the reception
Draw up a guest list
Set a budget for your wedding

Choose your special attendants, Bridesmaids, Best Man, Ushers and Witnesses etc.
Choose wedding theme/colour scheme
Choose and order your wedding dress.

Arrive in style and book your transportation
Book your honeymoon

12 – 9 months
Select your wedding stationery (invitations, order of service, place settings)
Choose and book your wedding flowers with the chosen florist
Buy and send the save the date cards
Order your wedding rings
9 – 6 months
Book your wedding entertainment
Choose and purchase your table and wedding venue diecorations
6 – 3 months
Complete a wedding present list
Send out invitations with present list, map, hotel arrangements
Meet with minister, priest, registrar or rabbi to go through rehearsal date and timeline of the day.
Confirm this with reception and caterers, photographers, transportation etc.
Select your hymns, book your organist and choir.
3 months – 2 months
Consult your hair stylist and make up artist.
Start wearing in your shoes and make sure you have all the accessories for the big days including Jewellery and Underwear.
Help your mum with her outfit

2 months – 1 month
Apply for name change on passport
Plan stag and hen nights, if they overnight you may want to have these well advance.
