Battle Abbey School provides an undeniably stunning setting for your Wedding.

Based on a site of enormous historical importance, and set in large grounds in the Sussex countryside the Abbey building, with its large rooms provides both beautiful and versatile Wedding facilities to cater for a wide array of Wedding requirements.

The site occupied by the Senior School, dates back to the beginning of modern British history, with commanding views over the very battle field where William the Conqueror defeated King Harold in 1066. This battle was so significant it changed the course of English history. The Abbot’s house was built in the thirteenth century and a substantial part of the venue building originates from that time, the most modern addition from the sixteenth century.

Our Wedding team can cater for Reception or Ceremony and Reception events in our Abbotts Hall, Dukes Library and underneath the beautiful vaulted ceilings of our refectory, with plenty of access to outside space on our top terrace, six penny lawn and the main drive. A glorious venue for summer Weddings with its outside space and stone work The Abbey also works fantastically well as a winter wedding venue with its log fires, enormous fireplaces and high ceilings.

The Dukes library can cater for up to 120 seated for dinner and The Abbotts Hall can cater for significantly more for dancing in the evening.

We can assure excellent service, flexible menu and drinks packages and our wedding co-ordination team are on hand in the run up to your big day to alleviate any concerns or last minute changes of plan you may have.

Due to our significance as both a heritage site and nationally recognized School we hold only a handful of Weddings a year, so please book early to avoid disappointment. The imposing Abbey Gatehouse built circa 1338, can be seen as you look down the length of Battle High Street, and once most couples have entered the grounds through the Gatehouse many are sold on the venue straight away. The vast majority of visiting couples sign up on their first tour of the venue.
